" Now I will break their yoke from your neck and tear your shackles away". (Nahum 1:13) We keep ourselves in an emotional prison by hanging on to the shackles and chains that we bind ourselves with. The truth is, God never really intended for us to hold onto anything that is unlike Him. As a matter if fact, He tells us repeatedly to cast all of our cares on Him, because He cares for us! (1 Peter 5:7) And He alone, will sustain us! (Psalms 55:22)It took me many years to truly understand the depth of these scriptures. I would hear them repeatedly, but they never fully registered to me, until I became so bound, with no clear path of escaping.. It was only then I realized that once God began to break the shackles and chains off of my life and off of me, I had to let Him! I could no longer keep myself bound or in bondage, by repeatedly picking up what He was breaking off of me! In doing so, I was delaying my own destiny, prolonging my own progress in Him! He had already set me free! But, I kept forfeiting this freedom, and going back into the same pits. I had not yet learned that once I was set free from the shackles and chains I had placed on myself, God never intended for me to come back to them!
Shackles and chains are merely tactics from the enemy to keep us trapped in the state that we find ourselves in.. But, until we learn that we have been set free in Christ, we hold on tight to what separates us from Him. But until we learn to accept such freedom and walk in it victoriously, we continue to miss the mighty hand of God in our lives. "I encourage anybody today, once God breaks off the shackles and chains in your life, continue to allow Him to do just that! And lastly, don't pick up again, what God has already broken off of you! You place yourself in a continual tailspin in this way! "So if the Son sets you free,you will be free indeed". (John 8:36)
