Joyce Meyer said it best when she said, "All battles start in your mind!" It is such a tragedy that we don't safeguard our minds and our thoughts as we should, from the dangers and wickedness that seems to be overtaking the world today. In a conversation with a good friend yesterday, we talked about this very subject-the battles that we face in our own minds. I explained to her that in today's time, we simply can not afford to not be in the word of God, and in the will of God, as much/often as possible. It is just a different time now! There are so many people walking around so fragile and vulnerable, simply because they have not learned to effectively fight the battles of their minds! They have allowed their negative thoughts and behaviors to hold them captive! There probably was or used to be a time when we could step out of God's word for a little while, and indulge in other things, that we prefer to indulge in. But even in doing this, in earlier times, we still could not detour from having a disciplined lifestyle in Him for too long. However, now it seems that we cannot afford to do any detouring at all, from the will and word of God! It seems that we must maintain a disciplined lifestyle in Him-all day, everyday! Will this be easy daily? Of course it won't be! And it definitely was not been easy for me then, nor is it now. But has it been worth it? Absolutely! Yes it has been! It took me a long time to realize just how much of an enemy my own thoughts had become. It took me even longer to see just how my thoughts were negatively affecting me! Because of this, I allowed stronghold after stronghold to build in my life, further taking me away from what God had already ordained for me to do and to become. Although, I had faith (or at least, I thought I did), and grew up in church, I never really learned the concept of "rest" or "resting" in God, until the repeated cycles in my life became too much. By this time, I had also entered many bad seasons in my life that I had introduced. It was here that I began to study "The Battlefield of the Mind" series by Joyce Meyer. After I truly began to study and invest in this knowledge, my own way of thinking changed! My whole life changed! After this change occurred, better seasons where introduced in my life, a better, more productive way of thinking was introduced in my life. Also after this, I was never the same again!
So I encourage anybody to do just as I did. I learned to relax my own thoughts, and simply allow them to dwell on and wait upon God. We are witnessing or seeing now (more than ever) just what happens when we allow the world to occupy more of our thoughts and our minds, than we allow God to have. As a result, the consequences and/or end results are devastating! It's time now for us to learn to simply relax our own thoughts, and rely on the power and wisdom of God in every area/aspect of our lives. Even though, the results may not be what we would have liked, wanted, or even expected (sometimes) at least we are able to still come forth as pure gold (Job 23:10). We become refined and renewed! We won't have to continue trying to pull ourselves out of the repeated pits, that we placed our own selves in! We will arrive in/to a better place in our minds, in our ways of thinking, and most importantly, we will arrive in/to a better place in Him!
