When I think of the power and authority that comes with this short, but clear statement, I am overcome with chills and comfort at the same time! I am overcome with the many thoughts of the many times, when God became this for me! I am overcome with memories of the things this very statement brought to me! I had to learn that the people we are around, our environments, etc., somehow,, become our fountains. We return to them for comfort and for confirmation. But what if returning to these places and people actually pulled from us, more than they poured into us? What if our being around these people and places are part of the toxicity and brokenness that becomes part of us? I had to learn that in order for me to get watered properly, I had to allow the Master to water me! I had learn that His is a well that never runs dry! I had to learn that His fountain is one that will continue to pour into me, and not pull from me! I had to learn that once I had come out of this kind of water, I was truly renewed, and I was never the same again! I was truly purified and cleansed! It's amazing how we find the most comfort in things and people that/who are the most unhealthy for us. And what's even scarier, is that in this process, we actually learn to cope and function, in such a place of detriment, despair, and depression. So why are we so dead set on keeping these places and people around? Why do we continue to allow the very pieces of ourselves to be clay in the hands of such negativity, and so many unhealthy areas and people?
It took me so many years of repeating the same cycles and re entering the same pits before I finally realized that in order for me to stay watered the right way, the healthy way, I had to stop returning to the same dry fountains! I had to learn to let Him water me! We have to learn that some things and people are truly for a season, and others are truly bad for us! We have to learn to let them go, and realize the harmful effects of keeping them around! We have to learn to let God water us! If we allow God to water us, we will never run dry, and we shall never be empty (Tasha Cobbs Leonard)! "As they make music they will sing, "All my fountains are in you" (Psalm 87:7)
