I was asked to do a blog on restoration. And I just couldn't refuse the request! I say this because it is through restoration that I have arrived to the very place that I am in now! After being broken so many times, God continued to see through the broken pieces within me, so that He could use me for His purpose.
When I think of restoration, I think of how beautiful a picture it is when God takes the shattered pieces of our lives, and of who we are as individuals, and of who we have become (our bad experiences, bad choices, and bad mistakes), and make something so beautiful and meaningful to the Body of Christ, out of it. It is truly as the Bible Scripture says when it states that He gives us beauty for our ashes (Isaiah 61:3).
I remember reading a devotional by Billy Graham where he gave an excellent analogy of when God mends our broken pieces, leading us to restoration. He explained that "Kintsugi is the Japanese art of mending broken pottery by filling in the cracks with gold and silver" (Billy Graham). It made me realize just how God mended every single broken piece or crack in me. And when He was finished with His work in me (at that appointed time), I came forth as pure gold (Job 23:10)! Well, the exact thing happened to everyone else who has allowed God to do the mending needed in them! And the exact thing can happen to those who finally decide to let God do the mending in them! Why do we hesitate when there is such an important decision to be made about our future, about our walk? Let God do what only He can do! RESTORE!!! "He restores my soul". "He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake"
(Psalm 23:3).
