"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30) I thought for so long that my life was so hard because of the cards I had been dealt. But, the fact of the matter is, my life had been so hard because I allowed it to be. I allowed it to be because I chose to carry all of the weight and burden that I had experienced all on my own. I never stopped to realize that when the old saints in church used to say, "lay your burdens down", it truly was what they meant. But, when I had gotten down so low, and was almost to the end of me, that same sentence came rushing back through my spirit. It was then that I learned that God truly intended for us all to simply, lay our burdens down.
In His word, God has repeatedly told us to lay our burdens down. He tells us to cast all of our cares of Him, for He cares for us. (1 Peter 5:7) So, why is it that we only tap into that realization, when we have reached our absolute breaking point? Why is it that we don't just put everything in His hands, and are simply assured that He will take care it, take care of us? I waited until I was at the end of my rope, until I grabbed hold of this truth, embraced it, and began to see that it really was true! It was during this time also, that I realized just how much carrying your own stuff around, weighs you down-physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. As someone who has been there, I can honestly tell you, it is never worth it, to repeatedly carry your own around (over and over again). God has given you the key to releasing all that you carry, all that weighs you down! So I want to encourage anybody to grab hold of this truth today! Don't wait like I did! Don't carry years and years of weight and burdens around with you for no reason at all! Let go, and let God! His word never fails! And He won't either!
